Good evening gentlemen.
Had this problem for a couple of months now but I really need to try and sort it now.
2002 2.2 deisel. The front passenger door lock is jammed. All other doors lock/unlock without any issues.
How can I get the door to open to remove the door card to enable me to get into the 'workings' of the mechanism????
Any help in this matter would be great.....I'm at a loss!!!!

Have you tried pliers on the internal unlock knob? They can be really stiff if the motor switch has failed. On my Elite when the switch had failed, if I inadvertantly locked it with the deadlock, I had to use pliers and a piece of rag to lift the selector to unlock.
If you have tried all this you may have to sacrifice the door card to get in, and pick up a spare from the scrappies. :y :y :y

Thank you for your reply....No, I haven't tried using pliers but I will give that a go and let you know how it goes.
Thanks again - always appreciate the helpful knowledge :y

In theory you should be able to pull up the locking pin with pliers, so I second that. Also a replacement will be pence from a fellow OOFer, also they're the same as on Cavs, Astras Corsas etc.... so not hard to course replacement :y

Again, the owners club members have came to my rescue. Thank you!
The button pulled up with a little force using pliers and I reckon I can live with pushing and pulling the knob manually in future.
The bad news is my 'CHECK COOLANT' warning came on and when I parked the car I noticed coolant pouring from behind the area of the drivers wheel.....too dark and wet to check it tonight though :(

Or you could replace the door locking solenoid. By putting a wanted ad on here...Easy job to do :y

Remember not to use the deadlock, and you can pull it up by hand until you fix the microswitch. :y

Hmmmmm.......I've used the deadlock and I can still pull it up by hand :y
The coolant problem is now priority, though I will try and source the 'micro switch' from here :y

Probably the HBV - behind the engine drivers side - 3 cooling pipes attached plus thin vac pipe to the top ;)

???.......Is this going to be a costly repair???? :'(

Hello folks....
I have finally got round to having more of a look at my leak!!!!
I took the car round to a friend who has a ramp and it looks like the coolant was leaking from the 'night heater' thing....below the airbox / behind the off side fog lamp.
Now initially when I noticed this leak, it looked like quite a lot but it took no more than 1 litre to top up again.
I then drove the car to my friends place, which is about 10 miles (of slow very very busy motorway) and the car hadn't lost a drop....and there was no signs of it leaking. STRANGE!
The unit itself is very badly corroded and there are signs of coolant on its exterior. I reckon it's only a matter of time before it bursts altogether.
I noticed two rubber hoses going to the top of said 'thingy'.....can you guys tell me if I can link these two pipes and do away with said 'thingy' altogether????
I never use it.....it's something that heats the car with the ignition off, I believe????
So guys, can I bypass it?
Cheers.

You don't get a choice in whether you use it. ;) It runs at low ambient temps (no idea what temp it triggers at) and runs to assist the engine in getting the coolant up to temp faster. Some car makers have a similar set up but have the ability to do as you suggest ie tell it to start a 10/15 mins before you set off to work so you have a pre-warmed engine for your journey.
No reason why you can't by-pass it though. :y

Thanks....
What is the 'thing' called? I presume it would be an expensive part to replace?

Ok, thank you.
So just before I take a hacksaw to the 2 top hoses, you think it will be ok to bypass this unit?
I hate doing this stuff😩

Well guys, my car seems sorted👍
We cut the flow and return hoses from the 'thing' and connected them together and all seems well after a 30 mile drive. We left the wiring connected just in case it sent my engine management into a confused state.
Might be of some help to someone in future.
Thanks again.
