He only got 3 points (according to his column in The Sun) so couldn't have been going that fast.

  . . . . . . . . and . . . . . . not me  ::)    ::)

I drive quite a fait bit, maybe 20k - 25K a year. I work on the basis that I WILL get nicked now and again, but hopefully not enough to accumulate ban level points. I don't consider that I drive at excessive speeds that much. My last "nick" was for 34 in a 30.

Let's ask another question . . . . . .

Is there anyone left  . . . . . who has ALWAYS HAD a clean licence. Never any points OR speed awareness courses

My answer . . . . . not me   ;D

I came very close to a ban a few years ago, "quite fast" on the M4 rushing to Wales as my Dad was dying. Avoided a ban by providing death certificate to the Court. Still got 6 points and £250 fine, but still better than a ban.

I do about 60,000 miles a year, and have a clean licence.
I'm so used to doing 56mph in lane 1 of the motorway that I often find myself doing it in the car!

I did drive right through central London yesterday afternoon.. In on the A20 and out on the A4, so the chances of me not having been observed stopping for a nanosecond in a box junction are probably slim.  ::) Chances of me being observed speeding are zero, thanks to the traffic. >:(

Most,laydiee's have the right credentials  ;)

When was somebody actually stopped by a constable for speeding? All by camera now(real policeing in action)
Cameras do everything now got a noips for no seatbelt last month, "photographic evidence" Humberside...

Oh, about five minutes ago I would wager.  On a motorway or A road at least some traffic officer has pulled up somebody for speeding, and maybe also other offences which often go together. You see on motorways there are few speed cameras; yes, we know there are variable speed limits, road works, or a particular"black spot" where cameras are positioned, but in general hundreds of miles of motorway are not covered by speed enforcement cameras, although ANPR cameras may be in operation.

It is really down to live traffic officers to catch the majority of speeders, and other offenders, away from the cameras. THat is why people like me are saying constantly "we must have more traffic police, if no others!" :y :y

There are quite a lot of speed cameras sprouting up around the M25, which means that they will spread like Japanese Knotweed across the rest of the motorway network.  ::)  :(
