Have got my baby (shoosh your lips) home and I'm doing all the little bits. Being ex-plod, he's had a hole drilled in the roof for an aerial. After an incident involving a low washing line, this is no longer attached. Mainly because the 170k miles have caused the lower mount to corrode until that tension sheared it.
I intend on replacing the aerial, purely decorative, because I think a flat grommet would look untidy and I can't think of anything else to go there... What's the best way to fully waterproof the new fitting? I'm thinking a plate washer and a metric bumton of sealant (recommendations?) - its handily accessible through the plodspec headlining, yet completely invisible when reassembled so I can go bananas...

Ive got some Andrews Aerial Connector Gum (its used for Coax connectors on Radio Masts) its good gear, which Ive used before on Aerial Bases like your suggesting, but you will need to get rid of any rust around the hole first (Top and underneath) and make sure the hole is flat and not bent in any way.
Let me know and I'll send some, you dont need much, less is more, all that sort of stuff. ;)
Alternatively if you have any rubber car mats kicking around you can cut a flat piece out to shape and replicate a rubber gasket for the Aerial Base. ;)

Are you talking about repairing it or bonding the panel back on?, do not both of those cure hard?.

Don't forget that Sikaflex is actually intended as an adhesive. So, if you use it on your scuttle, don't expect to remove it without damage.

Bloody hell, its never as easy as it seems haha... Alright then, what's best to use to seal the scuttle? I'm happy to attach the aerial permanently...
