Title: Oil Leak at bottom of sump
Post by: m.ian on 22 October 2014, 13:03:37
Have had pug and oil level sensor replaced but still dripping oil.

Been told that the oil sump pan maybe porous??????

How do I check? And where do I get a replacement?

First step is to look the exact spot where it's leaking :y

Get it well cleaned, then wait a day / few days to discover. Also don't forget an oil leak doesn't have to be coming from the sump - may be dribbling down from anywhere - including the camcovers. Have you cleaned your breathers lately?  :)

Yes breathers cleaned a couple of weeks ago and leak is at the bottom of engine very low down.

Oil filter housin or sump gasket propably, but as Geezer said clean up engine and after few days check to see what parts are oily :)

Sumps have two gaskets as they're two piece... Front crank seal is another firm favourite. Any leaks from here drain everywhere...

Oil pressure sensor, dipstick, oil pump...  ...so many places.

I feel your pain, having spent since before Guffer's big meet chasing an oil leak, unsuccessfully.

Mind you, a bit of oil on the sump pan stops it rusting.
