Title: Absolutely Bl**dy typical!!!!!!!
Post by: Crazycarzowner on 24 October 2014, 13:08:21
Car has been starting & running perfect since the heater plugs have been changed. Coming home from Stockport earlier today, stopped off for some bits & pieces, get in the car (still warm) and refuses to start  >:( >:( >:( won't even try, just keeps wizzing over on the starter  :'( :'( :'(

To say I'm p1$$ed off is an understatement, especially when we're supposed to be going away up north for a week in it tomorrow  ::)
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

Just been reading up on the VP44 forums of doom and it seems its not the mechanical part pump that goes tits up, but the electronic module that sits on top of it. Will have to await diagnostic confirmation, but if it is what the symptoms describe then its not as bad as I thought. Effectively you only have to disconnect the bastid or more commonly known EDC unit, from the pump and sent it away to be repaired. £300

Likewise the Astra's fuel pump and ABS ECUs on the Omega .............. electrickery is only good when it's working.  ::)

Looks like Misses's Ford Fiesta it is then all the way up north  :D :D :D

 :'( :'( :'( :'(

Well, nearly a week on and its still not running. Rang up the garage for a progress report and it wasn't good.  :'( All component parts have been checked, electric current passed through the lift pump in the tank manually ok but as soon as you crank, no fuel coming through to the injectors. Pumps been off & on, timing redone, everything checked & double checked = still won't run!!!

It managed to cough, splutter and bark into life for a short spell, then died again, beginning to think about cubing it right now  :o :o :o

Not convinced regarding your garages ability as process seems to be lacking diag and more focused on doing 'stuff'

EDC is the common issue on a VP44, its easy enough t remove and send for testing and would be much cheaper than the multitude of stuff they have done thus far.

Well got news I was dreading today, the fuel pump is guffed completely!!!! It has been tested and its not the EDC at fault, the internal workings are mush.  :( :( :( Gonna be expensive  :'( :'( :'(
