Title: fu****g cars

Hi everyone, Been doing a lot of work on the car today change the drivers wishbone, both drop links, and n/s tie rod (o/s was missing should get sometime next week  :()  But I still have a knocking noise when going over holes and bumps and also when I breaks  :'(               confused.

Maybe stab/sway bar bushes? A guy at OCF had similar trouble and IIRC that was where the fault finally was. Though the clunk you hear when braking may be just old worn calipers, heard many (true)stories of those.

Not immediately helpful I know, but identify what is causing the knock first/before going any further. Hence your frustration.

There are guides in FAQ and maintanance you'll find helpfull. :)

Those bit's need to be change, I will do some more digging around in the morning.

Also pattern crap brake pads can move in the calipers.

Could be the steering idler..

Found that caused lots of knocking noises on my Carlton.

Avoid cheap ones thou..

No 1 cause of knocking, Drop links.

After that it could be anything. Wishbone bushes failed allowing the metal wishbne too knock on the subframe. Any worn ball joint. Any seized ball joint. Ant loose bolt. Any wheel bearing. Any.... Anything loose, failed, seized, pitted flattened etc etc

Make sure the drop links are tight. Could still be a bit loose as I found out once :y

Wishbone bolt? 120nm plus angle tighten 30 then 15 degrees

Pinch bolt to Wishbone ball joint 100nm

Ps, if Oe rubber bushes. Front bolts MUST be tightened wheels loaded. Suspension at normal ride height. Or the bushes will tear and fail early. Very early.

It was on the back of the wishbone flat bush. I had it change back last year for the mot.
