Has anyone fitted aeroblade type windscreen wipers, are they any good?
-
Personally, I don't like them on Omegas, due to very curved shape of screen. I do, however, use them on one of my Omegas, because the stupid bloody rain sensitive wipers can detect moisture at 1000 miles, and the aero ones are definitely quieter on dryer screens.
Its not a grumble about aero wipers - I like them, just don't think they are that well suited to Omegas.
I also have a worry about longevity, as I broke 2 last winter, one Goodyear, one Bosch. Unclear why they broke (both passenger side).

Ime the only blade type wipers worth bothering with are bosch aero twin. Valeo, no good. Couple of other cheap makes all performed the same, with lifting at speed. In conjunction with rain x, twins can be superior to gm conventional blades. Expensive, but they last three times as long., and they don't lift at speed.
You might have to raise the pas side wiper to stop it tapping the wing though. (A problem with some conventional wipers as well, depending on how well they bend to the screen, or not, as the case may be, and where the wiper arm is positioned originally )

GM blades and rainX :y

GM blades and rainX :y
Noooo, twins are far superior. Better than gm. See? ;)

Have aero blades on my omega, and have for the last 4 years. no issues with them and they are soo much quiter that normal blades. :y
-
Thanks for info TB ,i might give them a try as mine are noisey with small amounts of rain. There 24" ayound 19" arent they? Chrisgixer you'd go for bosch areo twin i'll see if there on ebay?
-
Ohh i more thing they are hook type yes? saves goin outside in the rain!
-
Don't see what ebay has to do with it. But each to their own.
-
Yes, if you want aeros, only consider Bosch AeroTwin, and they are the "AR" fitment. Avoid egay and amazon marketplace, too much fake shite on there.
If you have Halfords trade, they are around £25 the pair (£40 ish retail :'().

Impact fatigue from constantly whacking the wing/bonnet :-\

Thanks all will give halfords a visit and give the blades a try :y

Currently trying a set of these Link (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Michelin-MSW12924-Stealth-Hybrid-24-inch/dp/B00CXJZ35S/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1414613561&sr=1-1&keywords=Michelin+MSW12924+Stealth+Hybrid+Wiper+Blade%2C+60+cm%2F+24-inch)
Seem as effective as the aero blades (Bosch). No idea re: longevity. Only had them on for a few weeks now.

No, as mine don't ;)
I think it was related to the cold, just concerning that 2 different makes broke :(

Same factory/batch perhaps :-\

The GY ones look very different to the Bosch. Failure mode was the same, the "spine" along the length of the blade seemingly broke, causing the last 12" or so to just flop around. Both times it happened it was fairly cold, and at high speed.

I've tried a couple of sets and not a fan of them TBH. They dont seem to last very long and once they wear they tend to get noisy. Prefer the GM or Bosch standard ones.
-
I tried some blades like these Bosch ones and I found the were rubbish on my car. The bottom of the wiper would catch on the wiper arm thus creating a patch of wet right in my field of vision which was very annoying. I now just use standard blades :y
-
I use Bosch Aero twins, I got mine from Autobulbs direct as I don`t have a Hellfrauds trade card.
-
Thanks Mr Gav just odered a set from Autobulbs to give them a try, no Halfrauds trade either ,these have got to be genuine ???
-
I`ve had a few pairs from them over the years, never had any problems with them, a good source of HID bulbs too, genuine Philips bulbs for around £36 each :y

I bought some "AR" Bosch Aero Twins for #irmscherMV6 from Halfords. Ignore the in-store wiper guide booklet recommendations; it lists the driver's side wiper for BOTH sides, which is incorrect. You need a 19 and a 24 iirc, but the guide lists 2 x 24s. Obviously, the passenger side wiper will overshoot the windscreen by a mile if using a driver's side wiper on both sides! ;D
-
Indeed, as Humbucker says, ignore the shite info in Halfords, its wrong. And not just on the Omega.
-
Fitted the new areos today ,certainly quieter but could just be the newness, they also look smart . I'll see how they fair after some use over the winter :-\
