Hi Everyone
Hope your day is going well.
Have been advised to change the thermostat whilst changing the oil cooler as I have access to it during.
My question is...
What are the symptoms of a faulty thermostat?
Cheers

Low temp, heats up whilst stuck in traffic, cools down again on a run.

Generally the engine doesn't get up to full working temp and it's slow to get to its max temp ie the 'stat is stuck open. If it was stuck shut, you'd know about it as the car would continually over heat. ;)

Will the heater be cooler on full heat .. ie not hot enough :-\ Just asking as i was about to ask the same thing and my heater wont get burning hot :(

I fitted a thermostat, "because i was in there" removing a gm item and fitting a qh brand. wish i hadnt as after 12 months it stuck shut and nearly fried my block.

I think it took an hour or so to home the bolt last time ::)

As to the original question. . .
If your cars not getting up to temperature, start the car from cold and keep yr hand on the top hose. If it gets warm / hot quickly then you know the stat is opening too soon. :y
