Just been to Vauxhall dealer and picked up a HBV for £14.50. Sealed in a pack with the hologram. When the guy told me the price I asked him to double check the part and he said it was now on a new part number 95517483 he also remarked how cheap they now were. He also said that if you ordered by the old number they may still be charged around the 35-40 quid mark.
It looks the right part, haven't tried to fit it yet so thought I'd mention it unless others know different and its totally the wrong part.

Woo. :o is that possible?
Hope so.

Yes the number has changed and is now alot cheaper, you can't order the old one from VXM as it will change to the new number.
Had a look at our stock yesterday and the only real difference is there is now a sort of round plastic guard around the vacum pipe
Cheers
Andy
Keep your invoice, cheaper= leak quicker ::)

Does the quality feel the same as the old ones, i have nothing to compare it to yet.
And as for you other guys, shame on you! you know how to bring a man down I thought I got a bargain :(

I got one last week from Vx dealer up here, and was £14 something, plus VAT, but asked how much to fit said part, and was blown away,,,, £240 odd.
The odd thing is, I have had the heater on, as its been a wee bit cool (minus 6 wed night) and the low coolant, has not come on for a bit, which is just as well, as cannot do it till next week anyway

Sorry, Andyc meant to ask if the build quality seems different as I dont have anything to compare it to yet.

If they are cheaper alternatives I guess we're all going to be changing them more often unless someone has a stockpile of the older ones.

The "expensive" ones were still crap, so i would worry too much. Just move it like i saw in one post to a more "service item" location.
Pretty peed off to to the job twice , 88k now on 106k

No point in expending more effort than necessary Chris. ;)

In my experience, they originals are good for about 7-10yrs.
As its not too bad a job, I'm happy if it only lasts 4-5yrs, given the price difference

Mine was last replaced in April 2010 so it's probably due to become incontinent at any moment.
According to the invoice the garage charged for two hours labour. :(
Seems excessive. :-\

At £15 it may be worth ordering a 'spare'.... :y
Did I read a post where the HBV was moved to a more accessible position?

Its standard location isn't too much of a ballache anyway (assuming nobody has fitted LPG ::)). Scuttle off is 2 nuts, 1 screw and 8 plastic clips.
Only issue if one of the hose clips is at an awkward angle.
