I think you are right about that.

One for Dr Opti to tuck away in the coachhouse.

It's the Sohc lump too so bombproof even if a little down on oomph compared to the 24v :y

But its an ideal engine to turbo charge tho and get lots more power...

Front end respray wreaks of accident damage.  And it's been sprayed very badly.

Seat worn like that after 54k? I shouldn't have thought so.

If the seller is being honest (ha ha) then kudos for not making the engine bay mint, but at least clear away the cobwebs.

I'd love another Carlton - My last being a 2.6 24v Diplomat.  An absolutely fantastic car.

Rear near side of the bumper doesn't look so clever either  ???

At 2k, this car is a steal - if it is true.

Once again, kudos to the seller who hasn't spent half hour mopping the bonnet to bring at least some shine to it.

Either the seller is very clever (knows the car is not as described) or a bloody idiot.

No matter how low the mileage (and that's not a sub 60k car) a 12v GSi isn't worth a lot, especially in that condition, but it will be worth 3-4k if it looked perfect........ and it won't take much more than £500 to make that a nice looking car.

That was my thought, it should still be pretty much like new at that mileage, the exception may be if the owner was of larger proportion......... ;) ;)

He's been trying to sell that on and off for some time .. would of thought that the carlton owners club would have snapped it up if it was a good deal  :-\ Still , not bad though with a bit of tidying  :)

Looks in better nick than the Lotus Carlton "barn find" I saw posted somewhere recently .. there wasn't much metal left holding all the rust together on that one ;D

Not comparing the two, I'm sure plenty would turn their noses up at this, but here's what appears to be a genuinely nice low mileage 'time warp' motor...
