Title: Waiting on response from a lame Ebay seller.
Post by: Turk on 18 November 2014, 21:50:39
After two days I've finally received a reply to a question I asked an Ebay 'Business' seller, listing a pair of grease caps, and a free tape measure. (Strange combination, but hey...)

Me:

Hi,

Could you please advise the external diameter of the area that slides into the hub ?

Cheers.

Seller:

Hi there,

Unfortunately we do not have this information about this particular product.
I am only able to advise what the manufacturer states on their product description.
I apologise for the inconvenience.

Kind regards,

Me:

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately there are several hub diameters. I require grease caps to fit a hub with a 47mm internal diameter.

I have a suggestion which may seem like a bit of a wild idea, but might just work. I'm thinking maybe you could take one of the tape measures you so kindly offer free of charge with the item....and measure it. Just a thought.

Cheers.

What makes you think they actually have the caps in hand? ;) I reckon a lot of high volume sellers are just drop shipping from wholesalers or manufacturers in china..

Many egay sellers (and other back bedroom online sellers) ship directly from their supplier...  ...ie, will never get to see the product.

Best ever response I got was years ago, I asked an heebay seller what scale a model car was - I didn't recognise the model, so didn't know off the top of my head. After a couple of days waiting my response was -

"It is of good size"

And you wonder why I refuse to use egay.

Its full of 'tards, and full of overpriced tat.  In the same way that traders ruined car boot sales, back bedroom egayers have utterly ruined egay.

Nothing further as yet, but seeing as the initial response took three days, it's still early days for these beauts.

We have a response...

Seller:

Hi there,

The tape measure we provide is quite good to say its free, however it is 5m and wont stretch the 30km distance to our stock warehouse from my office. I will see if they have one of the free tape measures handy to find this out.

Unfortunately the information we have is provided electronically from our suppliers and this updates the listings. Unfortunately on a number of occasions this data provided falls short of that needed by the customer. We are working to resolve our listings to ensure they are more detailed and provide the customer with more accurate information.

I apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards

Me:

Hi,

Fair comment. Still, one can't complain about a 5 mile tape measure either. ;-)

If you could find out it would be most appreciated.

Cheers.
