should be ok then. backing plates vary on engine code. can use old if new is different, fit new tensioners to old plate.

To be fair Steve, i believe that was an ''installer error'' when that happened. It's obviously been a while now but I think that was down to me adjusting the lower idler slightly to bring bank 2 in to time and then not re-tensioning the tensioner. if that makes sense.

All water under the bridge (under the A43 or wherever we broke down  ;D ;D)

That was from BPB iirc.

:)

I have Contiech from BPB/SAF on both mine.

If they send the wrong one, just swap the backplate over (but use the new pulleys/bearings.

Oh, and the V6 DVD is fan-focking-tastic, if you can tolerate MDTM's knobbly knees, be the best £3 you ever spent, and just helps ever so slightly going towards our images server annual bill ;)

I usually buy SKF kits from Autovaux, cost about £85, but they are not in yet this morning. I had troubles with noisy belts from Vx, and JamesV6cdx and others had problems too, with other makes. As far as I know the mystery was never solved; James said his noise eventually disappeared. No-one reported failure following belt noise. I twice replaced noisy Vx supplied belts and finally settled on a silent SKF belt, which cost about the same as a Vx trade club belt.

Is there any OOF conclusion on the noisy belt mystery?

Ref noisy belt, my tensioner pulley had a not unsubstantial groove in the middle despite being set up perfectly!

So Autovaux the cheapest at £85 ish? Genuine Vx is just over the £100, or thereabouts aren't they? Going to do the cambelt myself, soon, so shopping around for prices too.

So noisy belt syndrome seems to be a mystery still then  :-\ Seeing as mr bear still gets noise from his belt ? Webby , have you checked if noise goes away with aux belt off  :-\

Steve - Conti belt kit from BpB usually cheapest - have fitted quite a few of these - no issues at all  :y

May need your VIN number for correct kit ;)

I still suspect it is caused by the belt sides rubbing on the V sides of some of the pulleys when cold. It could have been proven by replacing the original belt, but no-one has bothered to do this yet. At least it is known to be harmless, just annoying.

I guess only other thing would be to pop the cover off and check the belt condition on these belts that make the noise  :-\

Steve, i had aux belt off and ran the car. Noise still persisted so was definitely the cam belt.

As said it doesnt do it hardly at all. occasionally on cold starts though.
