Title: Cam cover gasket price
Post by: joff on 24 November 2014, 18:39:58
Went to the dealers today to get a few gaskets, breathers need doing on the Elite ( my fault not done them for tooooo long).

Anyway cam cover gaskets 90511451 cost £35.32 inc VaT each WOW, they have gone up. In total for the seals I paid £103 :o :o

Last time I used 55351456 and they were £29.10 each with vat.

£103! Surely that's more than the omega is worth?

Last time I did the Elite was March 2011 at the cam party at Guffs little pad. Think I'm a bad boy for that and so it's my own fault :-\ :'( but with a trip to Scotland very soon and with oil on the manifold (O/S) I must get it done next week.

Now do I use the cam gasket I got yesterday which is the 3.0 ones or do I order the 55351456 which is the ones they say the 3.2 needs (the ones that have the connecting extra rubber part that last time I cut off)  :-\ ???

All gaskets will fit all models although you might need to trim the connecting rubber on the very early engines (ok from about 98 onwards).

And if fitting the gasket type without the interconnecting rubber then run a bead of sealant along the marking on the cam cover where the interconnecting rubber would be.

Simples.
