Post by: omega3000 on 29 November 2014, 14:38:51

Lurking and stalking again then, as usual  ;)

Not a huge bargain, but bought a home CCTV set up for £50 less than the price is today. 1TB Recorder, 4 cameras, and all cables etc for £249 at Maplins. £299 today, so better than a poke in the eye. Trouble is I'm now under pressure to get it sorted ASAP  :(

There not bargains... merely last years tat reduced to the correct price to make room for next years tat ::)

Tescos were selling 42" Blaupunkt flatscreen tvs reduced from £400 to £250, they had two left, and both looked like they'd been dropped from upstairs. I'd be pretty pissed off at paying the correct rrp for a year old tv with a battered box, let alone £400 :-\

And inspite of what my dearly departed Granny used to say, a price reduction does not a bargain make :-X

Not one of them was selling anything that even remotely came close to being called "decent", it was all unbranded shite made using the cheapest components possible.

I've planted an Afghan flag in each corner of my front garden and
a large Black Flag of ISIS in its centre.
Now, the Thames Valley police, the National Security Bureau, Scotland
Yard, MI-5, MI-6, the CIA and every other intelligence service in
Europe are all watching my house 24x7x365.

Sorry, not meaning to hijack :y

Yeah there was that  :( There is a local argos warehouse near me selling price cut tv's all year round , they must have 2000 or more now all stacked on top of each other  . A lot of them have refurbished on the box or returned  :(

Back to black friday. These polaroid tv's that asda sell, are they exclusive to asda? In other words, are they built to the lowest standard possible so that asda can sell them for next to nothing? I've seen them switched on in displays and they are truly shite. I guess there will be a lot of disappointed people when they unbox them but, if you expect a decent 40" telly for £140, I guess you deserve everything you get.

They certainly are bad, but as a bedroom TV or something to stick in the office, I suppose they have their place.  :-\

Yup

The panel's themselves are made by one of the big 6, and although they work have generally failed the final QC check and have ended up in the reject bin to be sold on to whoever. They then have the cheapest electronics possible wrapped around them and that's what you end up with for your money.

I have one as cheap 'personal' phone for when I really want to switch the work one off - it's fine - don't update all the in built Google apps or it does go very slow though!

Or root it, uninstall the ones you know you will never use, and then unroot it afterwards. Doing that got me 867MB of storage space back on my S4 (as well as making it more responsive than what it already was in standard trim).

most of it was just hype I was after a new laptop but there was not enough discount to make it worth it at my local PC world and argos, the headline offers were not availablele
