after doing head,im thinking about fitting a new engine, current is 2.2 same as omega, cambelt driven, want to keep the inlet manifold due to lpg,so what are my options
1- fit newer 2.2
2- get a 2.0 and upgrade with cams maybe looking at turbo conversion, but intercooler will have to be mounted on top of engine as need front for winch.
3- fit the 3.2 engine from frontera range
Any ideas welcome on what engine and mods
Replacement engine can be modified before fitting as have a place i can store it and work on it as and when i want to.

Later 2.2 is a TOTALLY different engine.
The 2.0 cam upgrade should also work on the 2.2

defo fit 3.2 :):):)

If you're to do summat, don't piss about ::)

It'll take some graft though to get that 3.2 Isuzu lump to talk to the rest of it ::)
-
Why? The car is fine as it is. Time and money wasted.

Not really, just change engine loom, gearbox is same bellhousing throught the frontera.
How much more cc can you get out of a 2.2,full rebore pistons etc?

Back on topic, would it be better to find a sri 2.0 engine which will have bit more power ???
-
Didn't Vauxhall bolt a turbo to the desmond engine :-\
If not, drop a 2ltr LET in there but remember the rest of the car needs to handle the extra torque ;)
-
If your thinking turbo conversion, then what about one of the SAAB units?

I'll sell you my recently rebuilt 230 bhp 2.3 saab engine with full fat turbo, will have the rest of the car attached too ;)

Adding a turbo was going to be an option, but wouldnt be good for off roading tho .

I was thinking that too, you need torque at really low revs, best off road would be a diesel or an older low compression petrol Land Rover Series........ :y :y

Ok,what about vectra b x20xe engine, from an sri, will everything bolt back on from the 2.2 and change sumps over along with pick up pipe and same holes for engine mounts ??
