Title: Corsa C - Key fob FUBAR'd...dealer replacement only?
Post by: Webby the Bear on 08 December 2014, 17:07:50
Hi guys,

SWMBO has just purchased a mint 2005 Corsa C with an unbelievable 25,000k on the clock! This replaced her 206 GTI shite box!

Anyways, touch wood it's real nice and as of yet only one issue has occurred and that's the key fob. Looks like this...

(http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee402/webbybear1/corsakey_zpsf3e0575a.jpg) (http://s1226.photobucket.com/user/webbybear1/media/corsakey_zpsf3e0575a.jpg.html)

So, is this a dealer only part or is there an aftermarket part available? How do you get the new one to work with the car?
Any info would be awesomes!  :y

TIA

I think Martin Imber (may) be able to sort that out. He did one for my brothers Zafira a couple of weeks back. From the piccie it looks like it needs a new shell & buttons / battery??? If the circuit board ain't knackered I think he should be able to repair it  :-\ :-\ :-\

Pah- that one's been practically run into the ground. I bought my mum a Corsa in March 2005 to replace her rusted out Nova. Last month it passed 8000 miles - so still not due it's first service. It's had more lambda sensors fitted than trips to the petrol pump.

Anyway, she also destroyed her key like yours by using finger nails to press the buttons. I got it replaced last month - think it was £78 at the local Vx dealer. The key needs programming to the car which I suspect is a Tech 2 operation.

Thanks LC0.

I'll see what MI says and if needed will take to the dealers.

Out of interest... did they need any codes or anything?

You will need the car pass to program the remote, if you buy a new one that is

Should be easy enough to repair with some tat from that well known tat bizarre.  If the switches are the same as Omega ones, I have a bucketload here.

Personally, I'd always buy a new fob, and program it. But then I have the gear to do so, and I don't charge myself ;D

Key fod is 9115104 @ £46.34 Inc VAT Retail and then anything from £25.00 upwards for the car pass, depends on the dealer you use.

Once you have that a quick nip round the TB's and while your having a cuppa he can be out in the cold programing it for you, job done ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, Andy, but Timpsons were able to read the PIN on my orlando with the machine they used to program the key. Couldn't a tech 2 do this?

Timpson's clone the original - You have two keys that the Car immobiliser thinks is 'Key 1'

Tech II requires the car security pass number to be able to configure the Car immobiliser to recognise the next key as Key 2 etc.

Ermmmm....he asked me if I had the PIN number on a pass for the car. I said no, so he got it from interrogating the car and told me to write it down for future reference. He used one of these:

GM made a pigs ear of securing some of there cars. Possibly on purpose for the Orlando, as nobody would nick it. For unencrypted shite, there are tools to read it out :y

Hi Webby, another satisfied Corsa C owner then. :y :y :y

I know this forum is the best but if you want another one to delve into have a look on http://www.corsa-c.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?437946-New-member-1.2-SXI-flame-red .

Halfway down the page Pugh125k (one of the admins ) does key fobs if you can't get sorted with Martin Imber.

And just for Webby, have a look at this thread for all the things you can do including a remap http://www.corsa-c.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?479594-My-First-Car-and-Called-Her-Maverick

There are plenty of people on OOF who can repair fobs, beyond a (semi-ex) member who never comes on here to help any more ;)

I just drove the car down there and left it, with the old key, till lunchtime. I didn't give them any codes, so unless they found them buried in the glove box I doubt they used them. However this is the same dealer that the car was originally purchased from, so perhaps they keep such details on their 'puter.

Hey Webby, key costs aside , have you had a look at those mods.

I quite fancy some SXi wheels (painted grey of course,) 235x34 tyres (should be 185 but what the hell), some Blue LEDs , fat exhaust chrome tailpipe, debadging, tints. Also looking for some coilovers and lowering springs to limit just where I can go.

Is yours the SXi with collapsed drivers seat problem where fat people slide in? Stay away from the engine remap, waste of money. Better selling and getting a 1.8Sri
