My current phone 'does what it says on the tin'.......but no more.
First manufactured in the Edwardian era it's not capable of this newfangled texting/sexting. It certainly doesn't come with a built-in camera or access to the Internet. It does however make and take telephone calls, which I believe is what a telephone was originally designed to do.
In summary, what I'm looking for is a new pay-as-you-go smart phone. One that comes with all the bells and whistles a young stud about town, such as myself, requires.
Any ideas, chaps?.......£200 tops. I'm not made of money you know. :)

The Motorola Moto G is the undisputed king of the budget smartphones, and is highly feature packed for the price.
Average price is £140 (for the 2nd Generation model which is 4G capable) including the mandatory £10 top up at first purchase.

Thanks, Mr Roid. That looks pretty impressive for the price. :)

Depends which Network your with, Contract or PAYG, getting a Network Free one could be expensive.
Nothing wrong with the Moto G or Android for that matter, but if your on PAYG with EE, Orange or T Mobile, EE are currently doing a Hidden Promotion where you can get a Nokia Windows 4G Lumia 635 for £49.

£200, Crikey I would expect it to make tea and put me to bed for that amount. Plenty of Chinese stuff for £50 on the Internet.

Plenty of cheap Chinese fake shit on the internet
Fixed that for you

All the mobile phone shops have them in stock, so all Doc has to do is buy from whoever he intends to go with or is already with.
Thanks, Mr Roid. That looks pretty impressive for the price. :)
Pretty much all the mobile operators/phone shops only seem to offer the 8GB model, although it's probably enough you will only have around 3.9GB of that available to you as the rest will be taken up by the operating system, recovery partition, etc.
Although it says the phone supports cards up to 32GB on the micro SD, a 64GB will probably work although it may need to be formatted to FAT32 if it makes the phone behave erratically (my S4 which apparently only supports 32GB cards slowed to a crawl when I presented it with a 128GB card that was using it's native file system, it worked fine once I reformatted it to FAT32).

Don't worry about all that, Opti, it will only make your feeble brain hurt. ;D

Any others worth buying?

Have a look at the Cubot P9 Android Opti :)
Yes it is made in China!, it is a dead ringer (no pun intended) for the Samsung Galaxy range.
It is a VERY well built phone with a 5inch screen & performs very well indeed apart from the main camera which although it boasts 8mp could be much better, although it is not too bad.
Check it out on Amazon at around £62.99!!!!
Look for a UK seller though for quick delivery :y

How much would a genuine Samsung Galaxy set me back?
-
I'd strongly recommend a HTC I've had iPhones and Samsung since mine, and I'll be going back to a HTC when am due to upgrade!

Well itmeans it's an out-of-date, insecure operating system. Doubt that phone would be capable of running android 4.2
-
It's been two years since I had a android so am clearly out of date
-
Android KitKat 4.4.4 is one of he smoothest versions of Android I've used personally, Time will tell how the new Lollipop 5.0 will fair..

See, after my last HTC, I swore I'd never buy another one. It was that bad, it made me buy a gayPhone!
-
iPhones ate the devil!!

iPhones ate the devil!!
Not disagreeing, but I'd sooner have a gayPhone than another Hi-Tech Computer piece of Taiwanese junk.
If I went for another Android mobile, I suspect it would be Samsung.

My old galaxy S2 used to freeze at will necessitating battery removal to reset,Sony has done none of that in last 18 moths or so.

My stupid gayPhone rebooted itself a couple of weeks ago... ...mind you, it didn't boot back up until I'd supplied it with some electricity ::)
-
Must admit i was tempted by the Note 4 just not the price. They just depreciate to quick worse than the iPhones :-\
