Nope definitely this end. Something is overwhelming the disk controller, 170MByte/sec :o, and the disks can't cope with that demand, so the controllers cache is running at 100%, meaning any disk writes are just queuing.

Just don't know why yet.

Hypervisor still coming up, but OOF comes up fairly early in the process, so should be running, but may be a bit sluggish until everything has fully booted.

No, a feature of the hypervisor product we use when you leave insufficient space on a drive.  In this case caused by a stupid, tired, full-of-snot, high on tixey licks druggy sysadmin creating a additional storage on the wrong datastore   :-X
