Hi everyone. Just wondering if someone can throw any light on an issue that occurred today: Driving to work I noticed a rather lumpy gear change to top gear but continued to my destination. Just before work there is a sharp turn and a steep climb. I slowed turned in and tried to accelerate but very little happened. I put the car into position 1 & 2 and the car went up the hill no problem. However, position D continued to be a problem with the car moving forward very sluggishly.
On returning home the car worked fine. I'm just wondering if there is something I should be looking into servicing or whether the reboot has rectified a glitch?

TCM when into limp. Needs codes read to understand why.
Do all the LEDs by gearstick light up at the correct times? Do they ever flash, or all light up together?

Will have a look at what the LED's do. Have never noticed them to be honest.

When was the gearbox oil last checked?

LED's all working properly. Have not checked the diff or transmission fluid levels since ownership Jan 2013. Will do so today as problem happened again yesterday.

Remember to check transmission oil level with the vehicle level,warmed up and engine running in park :y

Put the transmission fluid in with the engine running and dropped the car level to get correct amount. Only put about 500ml in and it was dripping out so wasn't that low I guess. Not enough to cause the problem?
Oh, I need to reanneal the copper washer.....Oops rookie mistake! Turned the engine off without thinking and of course fluid flooded out. Fortunately, noticed immediately and started engine pdq. Topped up again but didn't have enough ATF to make it drip out again on the level. However, I have definitely increased the amount in the sump. Will get some more Dexron 3 to get it perfect.
Couldn't get an 8mm hex into the diff level bolt. (It's definitely hex). Perhaps I need to tap it in because of corrosion? But would a low diff level cause the problem I'm having? There is a bit of dampness around the diff indicating a leak so I definitely need to get the level checked.

Thinking about ordering an "My Naff Code Reader" obd2 unit from "My Naff Code Reader".co.uk £33.50 delivered. Apparently specifically for Vauxhall Opel.
Anyone had any joy with one of these? Local garage want £35 + VAT to read codes. Seems a lot for 10 minutes work.

No discussion of buying/acquiring/distributing/using any copyright breached devices/software here I'm afraid, as per the forum guidelines ;)
