Hi I tried to replace the bulbs as one has blown. Removing the top cover I was amazed at the size of the hole,it's tiny, how on earth am I supposed to reach through it to remove the light cover? Is this a job for the Christmas Fairy or am I missing something (apart from tiny hands, that is)?

If you need more room, remove airbox/battery
Its definitely possible to do without though...

Yep it's fairly simple to do ;) Keep hold of the rubber cover and don't drop it :y
Other tip is put the sidelights on when you pop the bulb back into rear of light :y as you can see to locate it better ::)
Have fun - Just changed mine for slightly brighter LED projector Side light bulbs. Will see how they fair ???

Hi, thanks for that, i got my fingers as far as the sidelight holder but couldn't shift it. Is it a push,twist or beat with a hammer fit?

Pulls straight out...
Removing the headlight requires three 8mm bolts to be removed. Ten minute job at most. And bottom bolt can be removed from underneath if required (ie pfl/Mfl) ;)

Irrelevant here but, a MFL head lamp with washers takes somewhat longer to remove than 10 mins ;)

Not with you. Main rad grill or the grilles either side of the front fogs ......... either way, MFL had lamps don't come out in 10 mins unless the bumper is removed.

Yep pulls straight out :y. Perhaps try latex work gloves for purchase ::). Should be able to grab base of bulb holder and give small wiggle / rotation whilst pulling straight out.

Thanks, I'll give it another go. I'm in the process of convincing my wife that her wonderfully dainty hands were made for bulb changing :y

If stuck you may have to remove the air cleaner or the battery, but it should not be necesssary.

Indeedy, PFL/MFL with washers, quickest way to get headlight out is to drop the bumper. It is possible without, but takes longer.

The carnival has returned to Midsomer Norton recently.
As I recall, I locate the side light bulb by turning on the sidelights and observing where the other side (good) bulb lights up. After removing the rubber cover, I grope aroung that region of the dead light, find the lead to the sidelight, grasp it firmly near the bulb holder, wriggle it a bit, and it comes easily out of the light unit. I can then pull it up towards me, remove the bulb (push fit I think), push in a new bulb, and shove the bulbholder back into the hole in the lamp.

How wise, TB.This afternoon I easily removed a headlight on my 1997 2.0 petrol estate in 5 minutes. Replacing it took longer - the bottom bolt. After half an hour I gave up, recalling your advice. Dropped the bumper, 5 minutes, then installed new headlight 1 minute more. Useful lesson learned.

Changed both of mine to LED's, it can be done without taking anything else off for access but it is tight!!
I have large ish hands and they did look like I had been teasing a cat after....but you can do it.
