Title: central locking
Post by: robson on 04 January 2015, 12:30:14
My drivers side lock popup is not always popping up fully and I have to pull it up from the back door to get into the car. The inside handle operates ok. Before I pull the door card off is it the motor getting tired or just lubrication needed.

You can always use the key, just ensure that the alarm is disabled ;D. I do the same thing with mine and as it is now a Cat C
i don,t think it,s worth doing until it goes completely tits up. :y

Likely to be the motor. Get a replacement from breaker, then refurb your old one as a spare :y

I do have a spare and a couple that want refurb. I looked into this but could not find the micro switches needed. Any help on sourcing.

RS are a royal PITA to deal with if you only want a couple of items. Farnell/CPC are easier, but there's lack the tabs, so need a spot of glue

And given postal costs, not worth OOF buying a shed load for the shop :(

Does that mean the shop is ordering again? If so two OOF stickers please, and two tax disc size ones as well.

Cheers 8)

I have taken my dud spare motor apart and  now have to try to get it desoldered.Do I assume that it is the white switch which is at fault. The one on the car at the moment lifts the knob up but not quite far enough would this mean that the switch is faulty or the motor mechanism. ???

Could be either. My car did similar & a good lub'ing sorted it for years .... the motor was changed at a later date though  ???

Can the microswitch be tested without putting the whole unit into the car.Is it a simple make and break on the contacts. Anybody got any spare microswitches for sale. As the postage from RS is so high I thought about buying half a dozen and keeping them for OOFs when they need them .

I took out a microswitch from a central locking motor today and found that desoldering wire worked very well to remove the solder from the old connection. :y
