Title: Uniroyal Rainsport 3.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 11 January 2015, 15:43:03
They seem to have excellent reviews with the exception that they wear too quickly.

£65 ish for 235/45/17.

Are the reviews relevant to the car though? We know, from expensive mistakes, tyre reviews are meaningless if not done on a similar car.

I find it extremely odd how people still claim 'fitted and balanced'.  For starters, balancing is included in the fitting charge, and if it isn't, you need a new tyre fitter.  Secondly, in 99.625%* of cases the wheel is balanced and then fitted.  There are very few tyre fitters who fit the wheel and then balance it on the car.

I know I'm being a pedantic cock-end...... shoot me!

*That is an exact figure, maybe.

Been there, done that, as a passenger.  :D Due to probable greasy road, and definitely off tracking. It's cool though, I now own that car... And don't prat around unless in the dry  :y

go to tyre shop.

Ask for budget tyres.

Consume coffee and biscuits whilst they're fitted.

Drive away.

Truck tyres can be re cut X number of times after which they must be binned. Most truck tyres you see at the side of the road are the result of sidewall failure caused by either constant curb rubbing or over/underinflation :y

Sidewall failure is usually caused by the Wheel Guides which are positioned in front of the loading bays.  Why?  For several reasons;

Foreign drivers are 'blind-side' reversing onto loading bays.... not their fault, the cramped design of modern warehouses and their bays.

UK drivers just don't give a Monkeys as they are probably Agency staff anyway.

UK owner drivers don't give a Monkeys as it's not their trailer.

What do I know?....  I install the bloody things.

You could try as hard as you want in that pile of shit exotic sounding motor vehicle and still have the stickers on the tyres after a trip to Glasgow and back!
