Title: EML on
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 18 January 2015, 17:25:00
T'other day the EML came on, on my Octavia.

Popped into my local garage to have the codes read...it did have two codes, but after a reset the only one that came back was...

17075 - Fan 1 Control Circuit Short to GND

The only 'incident' that happened about a week ago....is that I hit a pheasant at about 50mph on the front RHS  ::) ....casual inspection of damage, is that its pushed the fog light back into the bumper and Ive got a bulb failure warning light on the dash as it no longer works.
But unless ive got a pheasant jammed in the fan and slowing roasting, then probably nothing to do with the error code  :-\

Any ideas what the error code means?

Start by checking the Fan Relay's.  One for each different speed (3 in total?)

Perhaps swap two over and see if the code changes.  :y

Some of the VAG kit have the fan controller mounted low down at front behind the rad but bolted to fan shroud, worth a look :y

Also if any of the fan cowling got distorted in the , errrr, "incident", you'll have issues.

Thanks for the replies, definitely worth a look in that area for possible damage  :y

I also read on a skoda forum today, that theres a flappy flap in the inlet manifold, that can stick and when it does it blows a 10amp fuse. This same fuse also supplies power to the fan and gives this error code. So worth a check too  :y
