You can't go far wrong with these figures. :y

From a work colleague too so I know all is well with it... It would replace the miggy though.. :-\

I would go as far as to say that you've landed yourself a bargain.
-
Really? Was kinda assuming I was going to get a " keep well away" from it 😐 in a bit of a quandary now... If I get it it meens miggy has to go... Although I have ahd a love and hate relationship with it ( but haven't we all)
-
well I have a 2008 2.2 .....is that model a timing belt or chain??...not too bad.... :y
-
Haven't a clue mate... If I get it and lasts me a year I'll be happy as it'll be a complete change of motor by then.

Just followed a 51 plate diesel vectra, looked very tidy (in the dark) and no smoke from the exhaust.
-
This is a petrol model not diesel.... Does thus now change peoples perception as to wether I get it or not?

Nope.
I'm not big fan of derv drinkers / soot chuckers. Especially the new breed with DPF.

12 months MOT on a car that you know for £300, snap his hand off.............. :y :y :y
-
I've just text him now asking when it will be available... Cheaper to get this and run it for a year than put issues with my miggy right....
-
Take it for a long run an check for over heating especially in traffic
-
Ooo so its a known fault then? I shall ask him this... I do trust him.
-

Yours is a Vectra C, chain driven and the bonus liability of a troublesome, fragile high pressure fuel pump ::)
OPs potential car is a Vectra B facelift, with essentially the same belt driven 2.2 donkey as the Omega :y
-
You're not selling this idea to me ya know 😃

You're not selling this idea to me ya know 😃
If it lasts six months, that's only £50 a month for the car... less than £12 a week:y
Why haven't you got it yet ::)
-
Because he's 25 miles away and he hasn't bought the car he wants to replace it.

Well tell him to hurry up then... ::)
;D
-
I will I will I will ;D
-
Well haway man get it bought............ ::) ::) ::)
-
When I was diggin about in a breakers recently lookin for a silver passenger door mirror for my 2.2 I was surprised to find a late vectra B 2.2 & the engine was a cam chain & not a belt. I assumed they had the same engine as my car. The chain was exposed by someone taking the covers off & it looked like another chain further down driving the water pump maybe ??? though I don`t think that was a SRI.
-
I could be mistaken... :-\ Vec C has the Z22 lump, Omega gets the X22 lump, I guess it's possible the facelift Vec B has a chaindriven Y22 lump...
I' m sure someone brighter will be along soon enough ;)
-
£300 is a no brainer really, I had a few Cav's and Veccy's in my time, no real issues really, same as most VX's, totally different drive to the Omega, SRi's are nippy and you really can bring up the MPG on them if you drive like an old fart and want to save some pennies. :y
-
Just been told this Vectra has 145k on the clock.. So do I still take his hand off at the elbow?

I can't help but think that you are stringing us along, Mr Vauxsull. ;)
Just buy the fooking thing and be done with it. ;D ;D
-
Nooo there's no stringing I assure you my friend... Its just not knowing if I'm jumping from frying pan into the fire that's all.

£300.....12 months MOT.
No frying pan .......No fire. ;) :y

Cheaper to get this than get heaters fixed in miggy... But I will miss it :-[

Only fragile if run exclusively on supermarket fuel as it is something they use in the petrol that attacks the seals in the pump...mind you at £400 (or just under)for the pump from Vauxhall more of a reason to keep away from Tesco's/Sainsbury's or the like :y

Wouldn't have thought so , depending what issues you have :-\ If your mig is in good nick and you've spent quite a bit already on it just get it fixed . At least you know whats been done already :y
-
Will cost the price of head gaskets to be done....

£300 will fix that :)

I had a Vectra once and really liked it I bought it to replace a cavalier, the only thing I didn't like about the Vectra was it wouldn't go round corners where as the cav did and to replace the Vectra I bought..........yes my first omega v6 auto and I loved that car.since ive had discos/sharans a bighorn and another omega but currently have a voyager v6 and like it erm back on track haha Vectra 12 months mot £300 buy the bugger and worry bout owt later you can get another mig oh another thing I found with the Vectra was the slightest moisture and the wheels spun for fun
-
Surely more than £300 for head gasket to be done? It is a V6 not a 4 pot !!

Hercules you are right it don't go around any corner at speed....(rear wheels for drive front wheels for steer) and yep don't go pulling off quickly In the wet as you wont go anywhere....but then see above :y

V6, more than £300, by the time your ready to fire it back up.
I your doing a like for like, £300 on Veccy with Mot, 12 months cheaper motoring, worst case £120 drive in scrap for the Veccy after 12 months, assuming you cant be arsed to to sell seats, wheels and bits before scrapping.
-
I could just get one of them portable plug in heaters and keep the miggy ;D
-
Where is a 'Head Banging smiley' when you need one...................... ::) ::) ::)
-
I can be frustrating at times hehe ;D

Hmmm,
Ok, try this, forget the Veccy, doesn't exist, its gone finished, not available anymore, the guy got fed up awaiting, someone else is driving it around now.
Now, go and talk to your Bank Manager and get the Miggy fixed. ::)
-
Veccy not available till end of next month anyway... Miggy isn't worth spending silly money on either... Hence silly idea of portable heater :)

Work out and see if there are any things that need doing at all to the vectra so that you dont have to spend another £300 fixing it , parts can soon add up .. even tyres .

It does have the chain driven power plant, the 2.2 belt driven long stroke was never fitted in the Vectra.
Only issues were the chain plus tensioner but, if its lasted this long, its either been replaced or well serviced,

It's not really 'for sale' then, is it?
Anything can happen in the next five weeks. :-\

Mine definitely can in around £100 plus fluids... ...although only for one side. Add about another £50 for a HG and camcover gaskets for other side.
I spent an extra £50 on "new" manifolds as well. Rude not to really.

Although I do owe that nice DTM fella a crate of something alcoholic :-[
