Title: Water loss
Post by: Ralph on 25 January 2015, 19:28:05
The garage who just MOT'd my car say there is a coolant leak somewhere at the back of the engine.
I've recently been topping up about half a litre every week but I couldn't see where it was leaking from.
I replaced the HBV in June so I hope it's not that, what else in the area is likely to leak?

Have the same on my 3.2 Elite and HBV done last month, I intend to take the inlet manifold off and pressure test as soon as I get time. Not as much of a leak as yourself on mine.

Maybe coolant bridge , needs pressure test as above  :)

Hbv can be ruled out by measuring waterloss at different constant temperature settings.

ie top it up, set heater to HI for a day, then next day set it to LO, etc

If the amount needed to top up doesn't change then the leak is elsewhere, most likely the coolant bridge or oil cooler plate :y
