a) throughout the UK and
b) to Spain???
In fact it seems its classed as a quarter pallet as its not that high and under 240kg (just in the case of an engine!)
Companies and prices please :)
-
Google, google and more google. If the usual suspects (NightFreight,PalletForce, DHL) come back with silly prices, try one of the resellers - I've got DHL, CityLink and Interlink for about 25% less through "interparcel" for upto 25kg stuff, but don't know on pallets. Sure it was Interlink delivered a short engine to me (white with blue and red writing) on a 1/4 pallet pretty cheaply.
-
Yeah problem is auto gearbox about 80kg...v6 engine about 220kg...outside of most standard parcel companies maximum weights...
-
Thats why i reckon try one of the re-sellers (have you looked on ebay for links?? handy place to look) - for most pallet deliveries you need an account, but the resellers have one so you get round it that way.
Failing that, try the local Yellow Pages - a lot of small local places might be part of one of the networks, like PalletForce - most of them are indies who gang up to beat the big boys..

First one I found...
ebay 290236346127
About £150 to Spain...
-
Yes mate, found that already...then you put in the details and get a quote to send a gearbox...£170...if you put it in as 2 items which its not but it has a 50kg max...
-
Probably about right for Spain..Should be about £60 UK from what i've been charged in the past. Only problem might be the height of a V6 engine...Sorry can't help any more...
-
£60 within UK would be ok...I will have to measure the height of the next one I take out lol :)
-
The trick is keep looking - I lost all hope after selling some wings on ebay a while back to a chap in Scotland. All the usual suspects said they should weight 100kg+ due to the size (hence a pallet..that was DHL, btw), so about £60. Found a reseller (interparcel) who accepted that they might have been the size of Jersey, but weighed only 5kg. Mr DHL collected them (resold service..), no questions asked!

SWMBO used P4D the other day, they were very reasonable.

Maybe it can be done cheaper by a Spannish company to arrange pickup.
My mate works for DHL and has a girlfriend in Germany. When he sends big parcels to her it works out cheaper if she arranges it.
Also same on ferrys. in Germany they dont take advantage of bank holiday hypes etc, so the ferrys etc are now allways booked from the German end.
Pays to shop arround., so maybe the buyer could save himself a small fortune by checking costs at his end.
-
Its me what is the potential buyer. I doubt the Spain end would be cheaper. Posting parcels here is a lot more than the UK and is hit and miss. We had one stolen in transit.
The other problem is the carriers at this end are rubbish. Two examples. 1 Exhaust from germany with Internet tracking. Got as far as Granada(then the tracking quickly changed to couldn't deliver) then said couldn't find us despite correct postal address as supplied by post office here. I rang them and agreed to meet the van at the local town. Sorted.
2. Books from Amazon. The van driver rang us from the same town and said can't find you. twenty mins later met him in town and sorted.
I am beginning to think that I need to find someone coming over or a removals company and get it door to door with one person and give them the money.

Pity neither of you knows some one that like to do the odd booze run. They get fuel costs paid, you get quite a discount.

Was supposed to be having a courier company come collect an engine yesterday for UK delivery...full address and postcode and they couldnt find it!! I mean, they must have gotten within a few yards of the bloody place so could have just asked someone...useless idiots!
