Title: Why did my power steering still work?

Following on from my last thread, when the tensioner on the aux belt decided to let go..and shredded the belt....as per title really....it still worked....why?

Its got me confuddled  :-\

Well if it was one of those Corsa's like my fathers with the electric power steering expect it to fail whenever it wants and the dealer expects you to find £700 to get it fixed with a new steering column.... useless.

Or you get some one who knows what they are doing who resets the sensor
