Just want to confirm what a lot of people have said already on here, on the threads that I found when searching for fault code P0340.
Motronic light came on & car ran poorly, so I got my trusty reader out & plugged it in. Sure enough code P0340 came up. So in my stupidity I jumped straight onto ebay and bought a mid priced sensor. I arrived a few days later & I set to work.
Wow, it ran even worse and came up with faukt codes P1120 Throttle position sensor, P1150 Electronic throttle control engine stop, P0340 camshaft sensor & P0120 Throttle position sensor.
So i set about checking all the cables that I had disturbed, to no avail. So I replaced the camshaft sensor with the old one & the car returned to it's previous state. Grr cheap crap parts.
So I stumped up £77 for a Vauxhall OE part & tada, All is well.
So the morale of the story is buy genuine Vauxhall camshaft sensors, it will save you a lot of grief in the long run.
