Hi guys, as above. Wifey's laptop was suuper slow so i was advised to install free AVG. Did that, things are running a little better after a complete scan and tune-up but iTunes wont load. We get two error messages..
1. ''the procedure entry point CMTimeConvertScale could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreMedia.dll.
ok that and you get.....
''itunes was not installed correctly. please reinstall itunes
error 7 (windows error 127).
Any chance someone could tell me in babies speak what to do to get itunes back hopefully without losing all music etc,
cheers boyos

The error means that you've got the wrong version of CoreMedia.dll for the version of iTunes you've got installed. Something you have installed/uninstalled has probably overwritten the original iTunes DLL with something newer/older.
Look in c:\windows\system32 for a file called CoreMedia.dll. Right click on it, and select "properties". If the file date is newer/older than your iTunes stuff then that confirms it. I don't do 'i' anything, so no idea how you recover from it.

Thanks for that mate. Just done that and there isn't a coremedia file there. Any ideas what to do. Presumably I need to install it somehow?

It must be on the machine somewhere. You would get a different error message if it were completely missing from the machine. If it's not in C:\Windows\System32, then it's probably in the installation directory for iTunes - try looking in C:\Program Files\

1. uninstall both
2. install Microsoft Essentials or Avast (personally I find Avast annoying but it is an otherwise good product)
3. Re-install iTunes
4. Make sure Mrs Bear knows how hard you worked ;D :y

Agreed, AVG isn't what it used to be, personally I would just install MS Essentials, have had some major Win7 crashes and funnies after Installing Avast.
I also dont do (i) Anything, but I would try doing an iTunes upgrade first before doing an complete uninstall / install of it.
When was your last System Restore Point, if it was before AVG install might be worth a shot but guessing it wont go back that far now.

A step back - what AV product was installed before you put on AVG?
-
I think it was mcafee and it had expired
