Title: Yet another outage
Post by: TheBoy on 09 March 2015, 19:17:00
Some extra memory that I've been waiting ages for (too tight to buy direct from HP ;D) has at last arrived, so will need an outage to fit it at some point over the next few days.

Obviously, it needs a full power down, so the outage is in the order of a couple of hours. 3 if I decide to blow the dust out of the bloody thing as well ;D

Might as well take four and rewrite the rules in BOLD whilst you're at it... ::)

Not wanting to "hot swap" them shows a disappointing lack of adventure, IMHO. ::)

OK, its happening this morning.

Kevin Wood - the hardware does not support the use of hot plug memory.

Bigtime - in essence, yes, the smaller modules are being replaced with larger ones.

This is likely to be the last hardware upgrade on this physical server, as we've going to be at (actually, well beyond the manufacturers' recommendation for) max capacity.

I have a nice "little" Proliant gen9 sat on my dining room table, though sadly for my bro.  Reckon he'd miss it :P. If so, anyone got a spare £4k ::)

£4k? That's only 40p each...

Either you're still in the bath, in which case you'll be a shivelled prune by now, or it's done and fixed...

In which case thank you repeatedly for your ongoing efforts :y
