Title: Brake hose banjo - size?
Post by: Diamond Black Geezer on 10 March 2015, 10:55:40
All I can determine is that the banjo bolt from brake hose to caliper is an M10 - but there's a few versions to choose from 1.0, 1.25, 1.50. I think it's M10 x 1.0, but don't want to trust the internet and order the wrong parts (again!)

As its not the sort of thing I can just 'pop out' and replace whenever I like (not without getting everything liberally coated with brake fluid, anyway) thought I might as well get a replacement now, while the caliper's off. For about the price of 1 x Vx one I can get 2 x stainless steel ones, that'll never need replacing again, plus the crush washers.

Thanks all in advance  :)

I've never bought a 10mm brake fitting that wasn't 1mm pitch.
Generally, you only have to indicate if it's metric(M10x1) or imperial(3/8x24 - I think!) and those dimensions are very similar.
This doesn't apply to American stuff, as they have their own 'standard' sizes

Cheers. Still a bit 'new' to threads if that doesn't sound too silly of me. Just because on the bay of e there's a bewildering range of everything to choose from. M10 x 1 is good enough for me, then. Just given that the new bolts are about a fiver, plus 99p for each crush washer ( :o) a pair of HEL stainless ones including crush washers for the same price seems the way to go  :)

Get yourself a cheap digital caliper and a thread gauge. Shouldn't cost more than a tenner, and then you'll be able to measure what you have rather than guess. I suspect that the tyre valves are the only non-metric threads you'll find on an Omega.

The caliper will come in handy for all sorts of other car related stuff.

If the caliper is off, why the issue with pulling the existing banjo and taking it to the factors/nuts and bolts place :-\

No issue at all, but the factors that do the stainless ones are internet-based, that's all.  :)

For future reference the fronts are M10 x 1.5  :y
