Title: Battery drain
Post by: BazaJT on 10 March 2015, 19:06:42
A friend of mine has a Yreg. Audi A4 2.5V6 diesel, which until recently has proved to be very reliable for the good many years she's owned it.Now however the battery has taken to going flat for no apparent reason. She's had a brand new battery fitted but this is suffering the same problem. She's had a couple of blokes-who "used to be mechanics"-look at it but they've failed to find the cause. She tells me the horn sounds and indicators flash, which I presume is the alarm firing off,but she's not said at what point it does this.So is the horn/indicator thing caused when the battery begins to get low or if it is the alarm would it be some kind of alarm fault draining the battery?Any thing else to look at for a cause?

How quickly does the battery discharge ?
if it is over night then could be a relay gone open, or starter fault
