OK, try another tack. Are MFL's the same as PFL's? :-\

As far as I'm aware...

PFL Early type - standard fresnel lens as used on cars for donkeys years. 94-97. PFL
MFL Clear type / projector - the ones that basically everyone on here has uprated to - externally look identical to Xenons. MFL / 97 / R-reg onwards.
MFL Xenon - Externally identical to above clear type, but with ballast back etc. (yet to find if the actual lamp unit is the same, only the ballast back differs, but that's for another day)

All FL - small point or corner to the light unit, come in Xenon and non-Xenon. Again, look externally identical , but there's a ballast pack in there on the Xenons.

So to answer your question - no, PFL aren't the same as MFL, however there are plenty if not most, if not all the PFL owners on here which have upgraded to the MFL lamp units. And the two are of course totally interchangeable. The same? - No. Swappable? Yes.

MFL with MFL lamps, like probably almost everyone has on here

My old mate's car (two old mates owned this) this is a mini-miniFL, Elite, so has Xenons.

Thanks very much for that info. Amazingly, it passed its MOT just now, but I am going to replace the headlamps! :y

I've got my NS lamp with a broken bracket (it'll 'do' but I want a good replacement at some point) - which means there'll be a decent lens going begging. Probably not for a few weeks, but yours for price of postage, sort of thing, if you wanted it :y

The white plod in your example is actually Prefacelift with xenons :y Mid facelift was MY98 and 99, so R to V :y

Also xenon lamps, whilst looking externally similar, are different internally due to the way the xenon bulbs are fitted/secured :y

My NS is the same, good lens, broken bracket! CAF will do me new lamps for £53. :y

Halogen ones from Depo are a sensible price too, especially the non facelift ones :y

No worries. Just offered it if you fancied having a clean, polished lens, you could polish it on the kitchen table, then swap over only when you're able / it's convenient, combine doing the alloy adjusters at the same time  :y

Thanks James, as I said, my NS lens is excellent, but for some reason I cannot get the OS clear, so I will replace with aftermarkets and change the adjusters when rqd. :y :y :y

Not a problem, sir.

Hope you get sorted soon.  :)
