Title: tyre rim leak
Post by: omega2018 on 27 April 2015, 23:56:18
i have an annoying leak of about 1 to 2psi a week from my front tyre.  on removing it and checking with water there is a short line of bubbles from one part of the rim.  so do i have to take it to the tyre fitters and get it re-seated or can i deflate it, prise the bead open and shove some kind of sealant in the gap?  maybe slime type stuff?

i estimate the fronts have only about 8k -10K miles left on them so i may just live with it i can't see it failing catastrophically  ???

Tyre needs removing and refitting once the bead has been cleaned up :y

i should add the tyre has been on nearly 3 years and only started leaking couple of months back.  when it went on i remember they slapped plenty of rubbber emulsion on the tyre bead.  i assume i must have hit a kerb and ripped the emulsion skin.

removal and refitting means a rebalance and probably new valve so  i think i will live just with it until the tread goes.
