Genuine or pattern "this is the question" ::) And are the all the same connection for the fl ?
Anyone used a pattern coil pack thats been trouble free ?
-
Buy genuine Bosch and you'll have no issues :y
-
Bosch as said. Not dealer. Should be about £30 cheaper from a factor. Phone around.
Bosch are or supplier.
-
I took the Offside coil pack out yesterday and noticed a slight rust colour around the top edge , is that normal seeing as its so dry in the wells :-\ I sprayed them with some wd , thought it mite help protect them .
-
They do tend to rust. That is the failure mode, as the rust gets excessive, swells up and splits the plastic. Then it's own hill from there.
I wouldn't be applying anything else to them though.
-
Will keep an eye on them . They dont like oil on them either , damn fussy i say ;D
-
Currently running on a pattern coil pack of unknown make. Mint cosmetic condition, no idea of make, it came off a breaker, and was a case of 'well let's see if this works, but I'll be buying a Bosch one most likely' - car runs fine, so we'll see how long it lasts.

Found these to be the cheapest for Bosch :y

Best price I've seen, personally. :y
-
But why are they different prices... There the same thing apart from the bolts dont line up and the end plugs dont fit each other.
unless you force them and forget the bolts .. then they are good to diagnose the other side with 300 codes :y
-
Think of it as one being even cheaper than the other :y
-
;D Thinking sensibly, the 135 side will be more expensive as they probably sell less of them :-\

Yes I noticed they will actually fit in the other side, but I've never plugged one in. In fact, are the plugs the same? :-\
-
It was nice to meet you both :y
-
Indeed. And likewise. At the Wycombe meet btw, before any rumours start. ;D
-
It is important to add that coil packs tend to fail due to water ingress.
Don't spend a fair amount of cash on new items and overlook the underlying issue. :y
-
;D the scouse pest is asleep, so should be safe...
Plugs are colour coded, but otherwise interchangeable :y

Damn right. Seal that scuttle. :y
Clue. Is the foam wet on the scuttle underside? Is the windscreen seal correctly fitted? Hrab the scuttle and pull. If the seal moves away from the screen, remove scuttle and refit seal. It clips on. Etc etc as BM says basickly.

Agreed. Once the windscreen to scuttle seal slips down, the groove fills up with dust and muck washed down off the screen. It then won't grip or fit on the glass so needs removing and cleaning out. By removing the scuttle it tears the foam seal to bulkhead so that then needs mastic sealing.
The windscreen seal was hanging off on one of the cars worked on at the recent meet and the foam was hanging in water. It was clearly dripping on to the coil pack so that needs sealing. :y

After a rotten journey back from Oxfordshire on a very cold night when my screenwash fluid froze (-19) I run my cars on neat Opticlear in the winter. I wonder if this affects the screen to rubber bond?
-
There is no bond, as such. It clips on. No glue, no goo, no sticky anything. Just clips. :y
