Just called my local VX dealer for this adaptor for the spin on filter . . .
cost is now £18 + vat = £21 .60 . . ouch ! :o :o :o
I was talking about this at the wycombe meet & a tenner was mentioned . .so bit surprised at £18 + vat :o :o

If they stock it, then haggle... Alot. ;)
-
If it's special order then haggle even harder. They won't have had to pay to stock it for the last 12 years!
-
you could just leave it as it left the factory ......... ::)
if it ain't broke ...........

As above.
why change it, if you do as told, and don't over tighten it....

Find out what thread and size the adaptor is and see if an engineering firm can make it cheaper,if they can why not put a bulk order in and sell them on here :y
-
I think it's an 18mm thread on a piece of tube about 60mm long. I would have to remove mine to check.
I could have made the two I bought, but they were about a tenner each and it simply wasn't worth the time at the lathe.
Your chances of having a small batch made for less than you can already buy them are very low. And just how many would you actually sell, I suspect that most of us who want them already have them.

This might help, should be a few vectras in scrap yards.

I will have to get one of these whatever . . . but the point I was making was that it seems extortionate for what it is, and
probably costs about 20p , if that, for the manufactuers to make >:( >:(
Are they fitted to any other VX engines, and are they removeable ? , as I could whip a couple out on my visit to the
breakers this weekend :-\ :-\
Ahhhh ! just had a closer look at 4x4's last post . . . question has been answered . . :-[ :-[ :-[ thanks 4x4 :y

I paid less than a tenner for mine a couple of weeks ago (a genuine part bought from Autovaux). The monies saved by using spin-on oil filters makes it a worthwhile investment.
-
Found out its an m18x1.5 thread so maybe try a hydraulics pipe fitting place local to you.

I paid the same for mine a few years ago!

If someone does this, then make the centre IIRC 12mm allen key hex. That way you have a better way of tightening it up.

That's not necessary, it only needs to be hand-tight with a dab of thread lock. Making an internal hex would really bump the cost up!

Do the VX ones have a centre hex then ? . . . just thinking of how easy they will be to remove when I visit breakers Sunday morning.
Any ideas on how to remove . . . 2 x 18mm nuts locked together ? ( if 18mm is correct :-\
Hex allen key centre would be easy though if it has it :-\ :-\

I got charged £14 by local vx dealer for junction pipe back in 2012 :) - screw on/spin off makes the job easier, and cheaper
-
Al, it's just a tube threaded along its length. If it has been loctited in you might struggle to remove it.
And if you PM me your address I'll post you the one I've just found in my stash of 'useful(one day if I'm lucky) bits'
It's M18x1.5 thread same as the filter/block and 48mm long.
