Title: New headlights
Post by: Mr.OmegaMan on 08 May 2015, 18:29:24
Is there anywhere apart from Vauxhall who sell facelift HID headlights?

Such as..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scheinwerfer-Set-Opel-Omega-B-Bj-99-03-Facelift-Hella-inkl-OSRAM-Lampen-7ZS-/221605444796?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_77&hash=item3398b6bcbc

But i'm unsure if these for example are the self leveling kind? I presume there is some internal difference over the manual adjustment  :-\

Thanks
 :)

Even the GM (Hella) ones are just a shell - you transfer the levelling motor etc etc from your old units. So you will get the correct leveller based on what you already had  :y

My levelers are knackered if that makes a difference  :-\

These appear to be the correct headlights

That advert says no motors with those, so you will need to get those if your are U/S.

Not exactly a bargain either!

I would go for used headlights that have had the plastic adjusters changed and are working fine but the likely hood of finding any are slim to none, Not bothered about the lens so much i can clean that up no problem.

My lights are fine and level not too high / not too low but the adjusters are broken at the very least, I get a headlight range message each time the ignition is on needing to press the button on the radio to get rid of it, Have been meaning to sort this for awhile and its possible if the MOT sees the message they will fail unless the key is left in once switched off and the message doesn't come on till the key is removed an re-inserted. But i'd like to if possible to fix the issue but i don't feel comfortable changing the adjusters myself and even then i'm not sure what else is wrong as i'm sure i can only hear a motor moving on the drivers side.

As you say likely the black plastic adjuster parts are broken, they seem to break on all Omega headlights in time.

With the message on the dash are you sure its not something simple like one of the 2 level sensors on the front and read suspension? Do you have any Tech 2 access as I think that will tell you the cause of the error - level motors / ecu / sensors etc

The front and rear sensors have been checked and cleaned a few months ago, I do have a Autel AL519 but that is just a basic tool read/delete codes and live data doesn't help much with the headlights, But its pretty obvious whats wrong with them tbh, Its just the job of getting replacements whether new or used.

Fair enough, sounds like you have it all covered.

You could just go for new adjustment motors and metal adjusters? Should be cheaper?

Presumably it's a facelift?

CDX, MV6, ELITE all had HIDs as standard unless I'm missing something  :-\
