Title: Omega 2.6 estate 2002 rear vented disc brake pad kit part number needed
Post by: Andy A on 20 May 2015, 15:16:30
Does anyone have the part number for an Omega 2.6 estate 2002 rear vented disc brake pad kit (4 pins and 2 anti rattle springs)?

VX want the earth and eurocarparts only got the one kit for solid disc's and not the vented ones.

Thanks

I was looking under 2.6 and all I could find was ones for the solid discs only.

So the 3.2 is identical to the 2.6 vented discs. Handy to know.  :y

Thanks for the link.  :y

The correct GM part number for the complete pads and fitting kit is:

9195058 PADS BRAKE SET REAR

Buy anything else at your own risk.  You should be able to get them for around £50 if you ask for trade or trade club discount.

I might be able to get hold of some decent used longer pins and springs - but can't vouch for the condition of the springs, that's all. May be fine, may be rotten. Were lathered in coppergrease, so fingers crossed they're ok underneath.

The kit is available from good factors, will either be lockead, or apec. About £15.

I've been looking since this morning with no luck so far. Got any good factors I can try in mind?

Thanks

Looking for parts and the website is asking if my engine is a 2.6 (138 KW/188 HP or 2.6 (132 KW 180 BP)

How can I tell what one is mine?

Thanks

I know what you mean but I'm sure that I have found a Delphi replacement and I'm just waiting for confirmation on pin length to make sure. Only £7.95 a set.  :y VS Vx over £40 a set.

Every set I got was to small, the only ones that are the correct size are from the dealer as Al has said, been down that road in Feb this year. Looked at just about every make going and they were all to small.

But if you do find the Hens teeth then please let us all know so we can buy some :y

I did try and send you a PM but your box is full. What do you want for them posted?

Hopefully the springs will be OK as one of mine fell apart and the other was gone altogether. Although the pins are not good either.

Thanks  :y

On all the Vauxhalls & Opel I've had with similar pins to retain the pads ..... they've ALL had them ..... I've never had need to replace any of them - why would you have need to replace them? There's nothing to break!  ???
I have though, replaced the cross shaped anti-rattle spring from across the top though.

Andy, when I took the pins out they were badly corroded and even after rubbing them down with very coarse emery cloth they still have bad craters in then. That is why they need replacing. Unless you think that would be OK?

Just wondered if you managed to find enough spare time to look at the clips and pins and get them?

If not don't worry about it, I know what its like myself.

Thanks

Sorry ..... I missed this question

As long as the spring barrel clip is a tight fit such that when the pin is fitted, it stays put, I wouldn't worry too much about corroded pins ...... as long as they're not almost rusted through.  ;)

Chances are that by the time the pins are that rusty, the anti rattle spring will have long since disolved and fallen out.

Better to replace, which sadly means Vauxhall...

Alternatively use 2 large split, pin, running opposite ways and lock wire thro the loops,

And before hse Muppets start, works perfectly well on most forms of race car calipers.,or make up two pins and use double lock wire, or micro R-clips, as on a lot of merc's use to have.

That's a quick, cheap, effective and easy universal solution.
We don't have those here!

The Omega Inquisition will be plumping the cushions on the comfy chair as I type this.

I gave up with the local factors and went to V/X and got 4 pins & 2 springs on order. I work there occasionally as part-time driver and got staff discount.... still nearly £ 38 !!!

The cost is putting me off. Way to expensive for what it is for. I still can't believe that none of the other brands can't get the pin lengths and spring clips right for the vented rear discs.  :o

Well, you could ignore the advice, spend £8-12 quid a pop on the pattern ones first only to find you need to buy genuine ones anyway which will end up costing you £100 instead of £45... ::)

As a song once said... It ain't right, it ain't fair... (https://youtu.be/BXuTSOusb3o)

Or to put it another way, when your pads jam on the wrong size springs or the pins and pads fall out and you crash and die, or worse... don't come crying ;)
