Mrs AA's 1.8 Astra (2005).
After an oil and filter change yesterday the oil level warning light keeps coming on.
Engine has the correct oil and filter fitted.
Oil level is spot on, no oil leaks.
Any ideas please?

Might be worth removing the sensor and giving it a clean :-\
If that doesn't cure it, a new sensor should :y

Not teaching you to suck eggs, but it's definitely oil level not pressure? I only ask as I've seen paper insert type oil filters crushed before and cause allsorts of fun.

Yeah, exhuast off, sump off. I can't remember if you need to jack the engine up to gain the clearance needed.

Oil level definitely ok when checked hot?

Yes, everything perfect.
Switch off, leave for a minute, oil light off.
Run it for about 1/2 mile, oil light comes on.

Well, don't you like things when they cure themselves.
Apart from the first day of the oil change, the light hasn't come on since :y

I had astra mk4 1800cc..2004,,and that happened to me as well...when the light came on I stopped and checked the level and all was ok...the strange thing was that I also did an oil change and after driving about 10 miles all was ok until I entered Milton Keynes, and the first roundabout going around it the light came on....( its all roundabouts in Milton Keynes )...it did it again on a couple of roundabouts but then appeared to level itself out and never done it again.. :-\ :-\ :y

Looking at the sensor I wonder if it's possible to basically airlock the sensor and confuse it? A bit of driving around and all the vibration beats the air out and voila, no more light..

Yup, strange one, after the first day it's been OK for a week now :y
