Nearly ..... mine is the much rarer & exclusive R Class :y I've not had any real problems with mine .... it had something done to the Airmatic suspension & a new alarm siren under the year's warranty that came with it from MB. On the other hand, a lad at work had a slightly older ML and had problems with the gearbox IIRC such that he got rid of it.
As for being 'quite new' ..... it's 07 plate ;)

Are the older ones manual and auto Andy ?
-
Andy's one and the ones you are looking at are a country mile apart EMD....don't do it...woman I worked with had an older one and tbh the repair bill was colossal :'(

Tbh they are shocking off road and nearly as bad on... one of the 4x4 guys had one and I was told it needed a MB diagnostic sessions to even replace the ashtray...now I took that as a joke but then again...if you want an unreliable car buy a P38 rangie....miles of leather and comfortable but 95 % of them are trouble and always will be...but at least parts will be cheaper :y

Sorry, don't know. R Class are only available as auto

I'm gonna buy a V class....when I win the lottery. Shouldn't be too long now, I've been doing it since day one so its gotta be my turn soon.

I think the only way to buy an old Merc these days is to buy a properly old Merc (Pre 1990's) from when they were built like tanks and went on forever. :y
Either that be as rich as Lord Opti and buy brand new and change it every year. 8)

Ignoring the E Class, that is why I have never bought a Merc... I could never decide on the best one for me...
I like the hewn from granite but somewhat rusty older ones, but also like a few creature comforts so was always torn between a W116 V8 and a W140 V8/V12... Somehow the W126 didn't quite cut it as a compromise as most are poverty spec 300s and they really don't appeal :-\

My old C250 (W202) was a 1998 model so it had the old Turbo Diesel straight 5 lump which was brilliant, but the bodywork was made of cheese. :'(

.....,
but the bodywork was made of cheese. :'(
