Title: Removing spoiler
Post by: paul8594 on 02 June 2015, 21:27:43
Has anyone come up with anyway apart from BFI to remove a spoiler from a rear ended estate as I could only get a bog standard tailgate in the same colour as mine?

Looked through past posts and although ideas found no results given

Thanks

That's arguably the ONLY way to get it done... Just be aware that some spoilers have guide pins or are bolted :y

Thanks for the advice, I was looking at using a wire saw but I think that's a bit too much BFI!

I got one off buy using a heat gun and kitchen spatula lol....I did however have to butcher the tailgate to get it off but I think if I would of taken more time I could of maybe got it off better what spoiler is it if its an irmscher one just be very careful prising around the edges as it could snap or at the very lease take chunks out of it.  Just take your time and like I said heat and spatula oh and big long screwdriver to slide under bit by bit.  I would have used the chees wire and heat if I would of been keeping it myself but I was selling it to a gent in Germany so time was a factor.

Hope this helps mate.

The Estates are a PITA, I can get the Saloons off in a matter of minutes, using an axe and club hammer without any damage to the spoiler, boots not much cop afterwards, never tried axing an Estate one but if its a scrapper?

Prodrive Estate ones are stuck on (quite a wide area), most Irmscher ones are stuck on and with 2 bolts about a third in as well, the cheese wire method is painful from experience.
