Title: Manifold Gaskets

Was very kindly donated some of said gaskets at Mayday meet.

How much has to come off before the old ones are removed and new ones replaced?

Would rather someone from here did them than give to the garage for installation during service (can see the labour charges racking up if I do). Next service due end of this month.

How long should it take?

Any advice much appreciated

...and I'm talking a 2.5 V6 engine just to be clear :-[

O/S is the easier of the 2 as just requires removal of SAI and manifold/coolant transfer pipe /aux belt tensioner/etc etc so quite abit of work to get at the manifold studs.

N/S due to much more limited access will require engine monut removing so engine can be lifted to allow access to studs ,so considerably more complicated side.

Some say its quicker to remove the heads so if due a cambelt change that may be a further consideration as good time to give things total overhaul.

As I was leaving Mayday meet start engine - lots of curious looks and 'what's that tapping?' & 'does it stop after a while?' Yes, says I - 'oh', came the chorus in unision - 'manifold gaskets'

A very kind person handed me two as I drove out.

Some one made a joke about the gaskets staying in the shed.

I feel confident it is the gaskets, yes :y

My fannymould gaskets used to tick when the engine was cold, and stop when it warmed up. So what? No bother.  ;D
