Mrs V booked a taxi yesterday to the airport.
Five minutes after it was due she rang the taxi firm to enquire where it was. But was met straight away with an automated voice that said your taxi will be with you in three minutes, thanks for calling. Sure enough it was. Presumably the kit recognises the number that booked the taxi?
Pretty impressive but of course in the olden days the taxi would have been there on time!

we have had that tech in Kent for 7 years at least you also get a text to say cab has arrived... :y

Some tech has missed me altogether. I succumbed six months ago to a mobile phone "for emergencies" having managed without one for ten years. Tried to send my first text last night for ten years and failed. Couldn't turn off predictive text and being a Spanish phone it kept forming Spanish words.

A brand new Taxi Co tried the Text malarkey around here about 5 years ago, 1st text telling you car and colour, 2nd text telling you its outside, only they were charging 50p a text.
Everyone thought it was brilliant till they got their bill, needless to say the Company didn't last long.

The firm I work for has several methods of letting you know the cabs about to arrive...
1st is an automated call to your landline or mobile
2nd is a text message to your mobile
3rd is an app on your mobile that allows you to book a cab and texts you when it about to arrive but the app also allows you to track the cab coming towards you on a map
And its all free .... as it should be for receiving texts, when you can block buy text messages, last time I heard my company was buying 10000 texts for £100 :y ie a penny a text :y

Why would I waste time on that. It maybe another ten years before I need to text again. I could always say to anyone if you receive a text that is gobbleygook just ring me or better still drop by for a real conversation..
