I am in need of a replacement accelerator cable, used or new, with GM part No. 90572520 (Opel # 847158).
Unfortunately this specific item is obsolete and not possible to buy new any longer and in addition to that, it seems impossible to find a used part as well :(
Looking at http://www.partsbase.org/opel/omega-b-1994-2003-7--7-39-1-accelerator-control-contd-20se-l96-x20se-l96-x20xev-l34-x25xe-l80-x30xe-l81-engines-contd/ (http://www.partsbase.org/opel/omega-b-1994-2003-7--7-39-1-accelerator-control-contd-20se-l96-x20se-l96-x20xev-l34-x25xe-l80-x30xe-l81-engines-contd/) I can see that there are lots of other item numbers when it comes to accelerator cables to the Omega.
Does anyone know if it would be possible to use any of the other part numbers to my car, which is an Omega B facelift (manufactured 1999/12), 2.5 petrol with manual gearbox?

That's with a short plenum, then, yes? As far as I recall when I install my longer plenum, I don't need the longer throttle cable (or maybe that was the cruise cable, I forget now)
-
Sorry, I really canīt tell if it is with a short plenum ???

If the throttle body is above the cam pulleys then it's the short one and if the throttle body sits above the water pump pulley then it's the long one ;)

Would it be possible to find out if GM part No. 90572520 is the long or short version, without actually looking at the car (don't have it around, it's at the garage :-[)?
-
90571262 is the cable for the long plenum version. So yours must be for the short version?
-
early 2.5 FL so I'd guess short plenum, too. WISH I'd got a throttle cable form the scrappy off that last 2.5 :'( I've got one on my car, they hardly ever break, and I'm upgrading to a long plenum this summer, so got the longer cable for then. Will see fi I can find you a spare from somewhere if I can :)

Can you go to a dealer and ask? The system will tell them substitutions?
If not if you like PM the registration of the car and I will ask.

It was actually the local Opel dealer/spare part sales who told me that
this part was obsolete but they didnīt inform me about any substitute :(
Will call them on Monday again to see if they can dig a little bit deeper...
My car is registered in Sweden, with Swedish plates, but
perhaps the chassis number might be useful instead?
-
Yea chassis number and can check epc later

Absolutely intereted, do you know if it is the part number I am looking for (90572520)?

Yeah, have tried to order the original part from a couple of web stores but after a while I get a reply saying that the item is
discontinued and not possible for them to order from Opel/Vauxhall any longer :( Same information which I got from the dealer.
Remains to se if I can:
1. Get my hands on a used one
2. Find out if it is possible to use a similar accelerator cable, with another part No., that will fit in my car
Perhaps a cable supposed to be used in a car with automatic gearbox, will fit? (if the only
difference is that itīs equiped with a kick down switch which I can just leave unconnected)
