Title: Speedo/rev counter not working.
Post by: uktigger on 06 June 2015, 20:35:39
I had to take the speedo/instrument panel out to replace a couple of blown bulbs,
but now that it's all back in place, the bulbs all now work, but now, the mid, speedo, rev counter and guages are not working.
The connector behind the mid seems to be fully seated and locked in place, and as far as I can tell, the whole unit is fully seated.
Would I be correct in thinking that the speedo etc are fed via the connections directly behing the dials?

Any suggestions will be gratefully received...... otherwise.....

HELP !!!!!! :-)

All the connections are via that scart looking socket on the back of the clocks.

Ah well, it mustn't be fully seated.

Just looked at a video on youtube and i think i may have put that plastic cover that the screw above the steering wheel goes through on in the wrong order - ie behind the dials where it should be in front.

Will have another look in the morning.

(What a plonker i am  ::))

Many Thanks!

palm of hand on rev counter, and gently but firmly press back. You'll know if its reseated ;)

well it seems like it is fully seated as it appears to be in place - won't move any further back, but still nothing.

Could I have blown a fuse?

On further examinstion, it would appear i have no hazard warning lights either which are on the same fuse according to http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90451.msg1155234#msg1155234 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90451.msg1155234#msg1155234) although the courtesy light is still working.

changed fuse 12 and everything has sprung back into life  :D

Just wondering what I had done to cause it to blow in the first place.

Still, I'm happy now.

Thx for your input :-)

Chaffing loom for drivers seat backrest heater pad is a possibility :-\

That's fuse 14, and it takes out ignition and a shed load of other stuff as well. :o

Drivers heated seat used to do that on the wife's 2.2DTI and the engine was still running, speedo and rev counter to zero fuse blown :y
