I am going to replace the clutch, pressure plate, release bearing and possibly the concentric slave cylinder in my 2002 2.2i manual.
1. If there are no signs of the concentric slave cylinder leaking or had been leaking. Does this indicate
that it is in good working order?
2. would it be wise to replace the concentric slave cylinder as a precaution?
3. Does the release bearing come as part of the concentric slave cylinder or will I have to buy one?
4. Are LUK clutch kits and LUK concentric slave cylinders any good?

I'm no expert, have only changed one clutch, but until one comes along, here's my view.
1. Yes.
2. Possibly, but concentric slaves have an excellent reputation, and if you change it you may introduce leaks whcih will only appear later.
3. Don't think so.
4. I was advised they were, that's what I used.
Just to add, on my first clutch job I did not know what I was doing, so I bought the minimum. the friction plate and the pressure plate, £96 from Buypartsby. You will spend £100 plus more if you change slave cylinder and thrust bearing. I did mine January 2014 and it's still going well.
As Al says, only 28 bolts. Tricky ones are on the exhaust system; if you break them off reassembly gets tricky.
If you follow the forum guide, be aware it does not mention the plate joining gear lever base to gearbox, which will prevent gearbox removal if present.

One thing to add is ive done 3 or 4 clutches at work and it's always been a LUK kit

Don't buy the Concentric cylinder unless its been or is leaking. :y

Contrary to popular belief, the bearing is available separately... fail to replace it at your peril :y
I had one let go on my first Omega and it took out everything inside the bell housing, including the flywheel...

My car was ex-police and at 120,000 miles was on its 4th clutch (heavy footed cop in Abingdon I guess), so I presumed the thrust bearing was fit for more service. Having checked on the web, Eurocarparts do a kit, with thrust bearing, for £113 free carriage, so I should change the bearing too.

It's cheaper than not changing it :y
Incidentally 30k miles from a traffic clutch is about average ;)

Terry, The link shows the item is no longer available. But in the tittle it says 220mm and only up to year 2000.
I think the clutch in mine is supposed to be 230mm according to Buypartsby and not the 220mm advertised.
1. Are all the manual 2.2 petrol gearboxes put into the PF, MF and FL models identical?

I just went to e-bay cars section, put 'Omega clutch' into the search box,and up that one popped. It's still there, with a list of cars it will fit. I suggest you try it. There are lots more there. Possibly the 220mm bearing is unusual so they are unloading old stock.
