Title: Omega insurance price hike.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 21 June 2015, 11:10:20
It could be worse.

Last year I paid £130 for myself, wife, and protected NCB.

The renewal is £155. :-\

A phone call dropped the price to £143 and free legal cover (worth £27 so they tell me)

Not exactly a result but like I say it could have been worse.

Nope, no joke...

The insurance companies think I live in the middle of a war zone, I'm 100% convinced they do...

I don't understand how a 44 year old, married man with 3 kids, full no claims bonus (maximum of 9 years) and no points on my licence, cannot get cheap car insurance...

It doesn't matter what car I insure, it's always expensive...

What I think it is - I don't declare that I work, I am fulltime carer for my disabled wife, so probably won't use my car unless absolutely neccessary - it never gets used at peak times, only ever used during the day when it is a lot less busy....

OK I know Wigan is not the most glamourous of places - coz it 'oop norf' but it isn't a ruddy warzone, theres no burnt out cars around anywhere near, nor is there any boarded property to stop thieves etc... it pisses me off that my 20 year old nephew, who lives on the other side of Wigan to me, drives a Seat Cupra can get his insurance for £300 cheaper than me....?

See if it makes a difference.

For occupation write 'full time carer'.

There is something very wrong with a man your age being charged so much. :-\

Insurance companies have always been able to charge what they like  >:( They are worse than the great british wBanker's , ive never been able to get what you would call cheap insurance but every year i can beat the quote by a fair bit by shopping around  ::) Why dont the insurance companies do that for you  >:(

Think i'll move to Lincolnshire next to the Manor  ::)
