Has anyone ever succeeded at anything in a Maestro? :D

@ Kevin Wood - I succeeded in getting my first points on my licence for speeding in a Maestro 1.6L - was my Dads car, and for some reason my Dad kept getting stopped by the Police for around 6 months afterwards LOL

I did the pass plus in the 1.4, Ohhh the extra power :D
-
Did experience a Polo beforehand (did some lessons, then didn't do any more for a few years, as was at Uni) and the first was a diesel, which had a clutch failure, so one week I went in and it was a petrol. Same(ish) cc, pulled away and I swore I was in Vanquish or something!! Ahh the perception of power and speed when you're learning... Mind you my first go on a dual carriageway I was doing 29.999mph, and insistent that this was 'perfectly fast enough, thank you very much' sweating, wide-eyed and gripping the steering wheel, looking like a recovering Heroin addict in a room full of Heroin. :D

I still have some(very rough) engine mounts and sump to fit a 318Mopar into one of those! Got the engine and gearbox too; it doesn't look like a small engine then.

If we're playing those rules, then add a Volvo FM7 without/with trailer 8)
If it makes any difference, the Maestro was metallic hearing aid beige, and had hideously over assisted power steering with absolutely no feel...

1963 Vauxhall Cresta (PB I think) custard yellow and was like driving a whale perched on a skateboard.
Column gear change and kept falling out of gear so had to drive with one hand, and hold it in gear with the other.
A 2.6L 6 cylinder engine producing no less than 93bhp.

-
1960 Zephyr 6 MkII Lowline.
3-speed box, column change, crash first gear, vacuum operated wipers. valve radio! bench seating (green leather) umbrella handbrake and floor mounted dip switch.
manual windows, no central locking, no heated rear window, no seat belts, no air bags, no power steering or servo brakes, no cup holders, no eml (it just stopped if anything went wrong).
It later gained an aquaflow? head, triple brass bodied SU carbs, twin exhaust and a remote mounted Powerstop servo from an ex-police version found in a scrapyard in Earby.

I can't think of a 'less appropriate' car for a driving instructor to make his living with. :D
Yellow......BVR.....and great alloys. Fabulous car provided you take reliability from the equation. :y
