Basic spec (GLS), early ones, mostly 3.0 were called MV6 and latter ones mostly 3.2 were called Specials.

As said GLS poverty spec which was upgraded with HID's, Fogs, upgraded Motorsport Suspension, most were Manuals, some Autos, and most with LSD Diff.

A few were Chipped or ReMapped or Tuned by the Force Garage(s).

Some do... Volvo diesels tend to be, although it is a factory/dealer option rather than after market... Takes the D5 from 205 bhp upto 235, which Jason will tell you is plenty... Makes them a bit of a liability used though as the head gaskets become a service item ::)

Most of them have ended up in Northern Ireland to end their days being ragged around supermarket carparks :'(

Only if your insurance company is a bit, er, special ::)

The only issue Ive had has been finding one who will listen when I tell them it came from the factory with a manual gearbox and the 3.2 engine. Lots of their databases don't list the special. I did have one go "are you sure it isn't a Vectra?"...

They were not all white. I went to the police auction at Witney, some years back, and could not find the Omegas. I enquired at the office, was told they were there, and found them eventually, in dark blue.

Ah yes i seem to recall when a fleeing car driver was chased sometimes the white cars took over . So the unmarked cars must be for inner city jobs  :-\

Different tools for different jobs... ::)

Unmarked cars are used for Cid, as pool cars, covert ops and traffic enforcement. Marked ones are as area/beat cars, overt traffic enforcement/deterent, armed response (also often unmarked), dog vans and minibus/Friday night hospitality units ;)

 ???

It's nothing personal, but the vast majority of explod Omegas on the island seem to end up being completely and utterly trashed by being 'diffed' or whatever you call it. ??? This is generally seen as a complete waste of perfectly good Omegas, and also permanently destroys all the valuable bits... namely the  engines/gearboxes/lsds.

With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that those who own the cars currently would be somewhat reluctant to see them wasted that way :y

Try finding an Ex Plod Omega in NI or IR that's in good nick or better still in one piece, and that will probably answer the question.

Plus there starting to become quiet rare now, from a personal view I've spent a few years saving them from the scrapyard, managed to save 8 so far, admittedly 1 got scrapped as it was beyond body repair, another went walk about, 1 now lives in a Film Studio Car Park Hanger, with the rest being moved on to good homes or selfishly kept by me.

Well yea I can't argue with you's there most off them over here are used for drifting and do end up wrecked the same thing happened with Gsi carltons and senators but you can't blame everybody in Ireland for that. But that's why am on here to try and pick up a decent example as I wouldn't want to buy one over here. Heavy armed police still use them over here beleave it or not :). Any help or info on one forsale would be much appreciated thanks.
