Title: Wanted 2001 Elite Estate Rear Suspension
Post by: star_whites on 26 June 2015, 20:26:12
As above really , anyone got any springs/shocks (self adjusting) for a 2001 Elite Estate.

Tried to get new shocks from auto factors but they don't list any for the elite.

If you are willing to listen see the self levelling function you can fit standard shocks AND springs. Must replace both though if you are doing away with the SL.

....no edit! ::)

It's unlikely you will get self levelling shocks in good condition second hand ;) I fitted brand new not that long ago and they are already rusting under the air bladders.

Thanks Lazy, there's only one failed but I always replace shocks and springs as a pair the same as tyres.

Don't get wrong I'm willing to invest in new in a few months, just need to get her through the mot but I've already spent a fortune on her over the last month

Is the shock leaking fluid or air? It won't ride well but you don't need the self levelling for the mot.

Well theres a grease build up at the bottom but it's sat fully extended all the time, I figured it was just buggered. I can clean up the bottom no problem to get rid of all the grease/oil but it's the ride that's bad. I know the drivers side spring has lost a coil as we removed the broken section last week when it was on the four poster and it's the shocker on the same side.

Have to admit that I've just done the brakes and when bleeding I noticed there wasn't much movement on the sensor in the rear passenger arm so when I got hold of it it popped off and it was seized. I've freed it off and cleaned It and it's now moving fine. Is there more then one sensor that adjusts the rear ride height?

Rear passenger arm sensor is for headlight levelling ::)

Suspension levelling is completely and totally separate... not to mention attached to the driverside trailing arm ;)
